ABOUT THE WWD
The Wild Water Derby is a tradition in Shortsville/Manchester of paddling, racing, and having a ton of fun! Although it is a racing event, the number one priority is having a good time! You can join in the fun by paddling just about anything that can float. We have a kayak, canoe and raft divisions.
The spectator favorite is the homemade raft event since this is where there are points for creativity and humor. Although it doesn't make a difference on how fast you get down the outlet, it does give the crowds a chuckle. When building your raft there are some height restrictions due to bridges, safety lines etc, so don't think you can float down a two story ark. There is also a 500lb limit on raft weight, any heavier than that makes it unsafe for our volunteers to assist if you need help.
